Size Guide
Find Your Aldren & Rowe Size
Choosing the right size is important for both comfort and appearance.
Our footwear may vary slightly depending on the shape of the last, construction and individual foot shape, so we recommend using this guide together with the sizing information shown on each product page.

How to Measure Your Feet
For the most accurate result, measure your feet later in the day, when they are naturally slightly larger.
Step 1 — Prepare
Wear the type of socks you expect to wear with the shoes.
Place a sheet of paper on a hard, flat floor.
Step 2 — Stand Naturally
Place one foot on the paper while standing upright.
Your full weight should be distributed naturally.
Step 3 — Mark the Foot
Mark:
- the back of your heel;
- the tip of your longest toe.
Step 4 — Measure
Measure the distance between these two points in centimetres.
Step 5 — Measure Both Feet
It is common for one foot to be slightly larger than the other.
Use the measurement of your larger foot when selecting your size.
Choosing Between Two Sizes
If your measurement falls between two sizes, the best choice can depend on the style of shoe and the shape of your foot.
As a general guide:
Normal-width foot:
Choose the closest corresponding size.
Wider foot:
Consider the larger of the two sizes where available.
Narrower foot:
The smaller size may provide a closer fit depending on the construction.
Always check the individual product page for any model-specific fit advice.
Do Aldren & Rowe Shoes Run True to Size?
Fit varies by model.
Some classic dress shoes may feel slightly different from trainers because of:
- a more structured upper;
- a narrower heel;
- a shaped toe box;
- leather construction.
Where a particular model runs larger, smaller or has another notable fit characteristic, we aim to state this in the product information.
Dress Shoes vs Trainers
Do not assume that your trainer size will always be identical to your formal shoe size.
Athletic footwear often uses different internal shapes, padding and sizing conventions.
For the best result, use your measured foot length together with the UK/EU/US conversion table above.
Trying Your Shoes On
When your order arrives, we recommend trying your footwear:
indoors
on a:
clean, soft surface
until you are confident with the fit.
This helps keep the shoes in returnable condition if you decide that another size would be more suitable.
What Should a Good Fit Feel Like?
A well-fitting shoe should generally:
- hold the heel comfortably;
- feel secure around the midfoot;
- provide enough room for your toes;
- avoid excessive pressure or pinching;
- allow natural movement while walking.
Leather footwear may soften slightly with wear, but it should not require significant discomfort to become wearable.
If the Shoes Feel Slightly Firm
Some structured leather shoes can feel firmer when first worn than casual footwear.
This is not unusual.
However, your shoes should not cause significant pain, numbness or severe pressure.
If the fit feels clearly incorrect, we recommend considering an exchange rather than relying on extensive stretching or wear.
If the Shoes Feel Too Large
Common signs include:
- excessive heel movement;
- the foot sliding forward;
- significant empty space around the foot;
- difficulty keeping the shoe secure.
In this case, a smaller size may provide a better fit.
If the Shoes Feel Too Small
Common signs include:
- strong pressure around the toes;
- toes contacting the front of the shoe;
- significant discomfort across the width;
- numbness or pinching.
A larger size may be more appropriate.
Width and Foot Shape
Foot width can have as much influence on fit as foot length.
Two customers with the same foot length may prefer different sizes depending on:
- width;
- arch;
- instep;
- toe shape;
- personal fit preference.
Our size guide is therefore intended as a strong reference rather than a guarantee that one size will suit every foot shape.
